CAST AWAYS - Turning Trash into Treasure
Jason Reeves is a horticulturist at the University of Tennessee Agriculture Research and Education Center in Jackson Tennessee. A popular speaker across the southern states, he will be coming to Oklahoma to give two talks on February 21 and 22, 2026. The first talk will be in Tulsa at the Tulsa Garden Center, 2435 S. Peoria, at 7 pm on Saturday February 21st. His topic for that program will be 'Cast Aways, Turning Trash Into Treasure'. The second program will be in Oklahoma City at the Oklahoma City Zoo Education Center, 2000 Remington Place, at 2 pm on Sunday, February 22nd. His topic for that program will be 'Garden Hero's, Pollinator and Host Edition'.
Jason Reeves grew up on a farm in West Tennessee, where he fell in love with the plant world. He received his Masters degree in Ornamental Horticulture and Landscape Design from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. His past experiences include work at the Opryland Conservatories in Nashville, Missouri Botanical Garden, Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania, and in private gardens in New Zealand.
In 2002, he became a research horticulturist and curator of the University of Tennessee Gardens located at the West Tennessee Research and Education Center in Jackson, Tennessee. Jason’s colorful plant combinations and unique garden art, made by recycling everyday objects, draws several thousand people to the Center's annual lawn and garden show, Summer Celebration.
